Euan’s Atlantic Ocean Row

This time last year, you may recall, we were firmly behind the incredible journey of the Atlantic Nomads as they undertook the Talisker Whisky Challenge on behalf of Alabaré Homes for Veterans, which culminated in a world record for the fastest trio!!  This year we’re at it again, celebrating Major Euan Fraser as he also rows the Atlantic, raising funds for Alabaré’s Homes for Veterans.

Euan says,

‘Rowing the Atlantic! The most gruelling conditions in the most demanding and hostile environment on Earth! During December into January 2023, I will be rowing across the Atlantic Ocean in the Roxy Rowing Atlantic Expedition – 2600 nautical miles; 40-foot waves; extreme heat; physical exhaustion; and 12 hours of backbreaking rowing every single day for 40 days…join me on this epic journey and let’s raise funds for a truly incredible cause!’

Roxy their boat (RX80) carries 12 people, with eight rowing positions and eight berths at close quarters. Please note that Roxy is a rowing boat, not a sculling boat. The international team of ten, with a Roxy crew of two, departed Tenerife on December 5th.  They are making their way to Falmouth Harbour in Antigua, which is expected to take 35-40 days. They left in difficult conditions and had tough weather and wind conditions to deal with over the first few days, resulting in them zig-zagging on the tracker for a while. They are now making good headway, and the water is like a lake, and they are all relaxing into their positions. News from the boat also says that they have already seen dolphins and had a whale breach next to the boat in the early hours of the morning. While the stars and bioluminescence have been extraordinary.

We wish all of them the very best for what promises to be a gruelling challenge. Please, if you can, support Euan with a small donation of encouragement via his Just Giving Page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/euanfraserroxyatlantic
