Help others like Joe this winter

We often don’t have time to stop to think about the impact that our gifts can make, but for someone who’s hit the lowest point in their life, knowing someone is there for them can be the reason to keep going.

Joe was in a bad way when he arrived at our Wiltshire service, having lost his home and subsequently, his job after a relationship breakdown. He was very hungry and his anxiety was causing him to be quite unwell. Joe (not his real name) had first come to us 14 years beforehand as a young care leaver before he joined a shared house. Sadly, though the landlord sold the property which meant Joe was evicted and he ended up living on the street for some time.

Thankfully, we could once again give him the vital support he needed. He has stopped drinking and has begun volunteering as a van driver. He is excited to move into a new tenancy this winter and he wants to start seeking a job soon. Joe says he now feels hopeful for the future.
