Putting Our Heart Into It: A Valentine’s Celebration at Old Sarum Development Centre
A very special Valentine's event has been put together by ALABARÉ clients with learning disabilities so they could enjoy a meal together.
At ALABARÉ, we’re passionate about supporting adults with learning disabilities to live with independence, confidence, and joy.’
Through our Homes, Hearts & Minds approach, we provide places to belong, relationships that nurture, and opportunities that help each person flourish.
One of the places where this comes to life every day is our Old Sarum Development Centre.
Here, our dedicated team supports clients to build practical skills, grow friendships, and take part in meaningful activities – from catering and hospitality through to art, wellbeing, technology, and community projects.
It’s a safe, vibrant environment where confidence can blossom.
On 12 February, the Centre hosted a special Valentine’s Night for our Learning Disabilities clients at the Old Sarum café — a chance to enjoy a three‑course meal together in a relaxed, welcoming setting.
The evening was designed to give clients the freedom to socialise and celebrate without the need for support workers present.
A kind volunteer joined us to help bring the event to life.
Two of our clients took on an especially important role, helping to plan and prepare the evening throughout the day.
Their hard work shone through in the beautifully made desserts: a rich Banoffee Pie and a zesty Lime Cheesecake.
Both were absolutely delicious — and a real testament to the skills and pride they’ve developed at the Centre.
It was a busy day, a joyful evening, and a brilliant example of what ALABARÉ does every day to restore hearts.
