ALABARÉ delighted to see ambassador named as House of Lords peer
We're so pleased for Sophy, who's been nominated to become a Baroness by Labour, officially beginning her role from January 2026.
ALABARÉ is pleased to share that our ambassador, Dr Sophy Antrobus MBE, has been appointed as a peer in the House of Lords.
Dr Antrobus, who lives in Salisbury, is the Senior Research Fellow and the Co-Director of the Freeman Air and Space Institute at King’s College London.
She also served in the Royal Air Force for 20 years, completing operational tours in the Republic of the Congo, Iraq, and Afghanistan, before earning a PhD in Air Power, lecturing in Strategic Studies, being named as a Fellow of the Learned Society Board of the Royal Aeronautical Society, and taking part in the Government’s Strategic Defence Review.
Sophy’s been nominated to become a Baroness by Labour, officially beginning her role from January 2026.
Her citation from the Government also points out her advocacy in the fields of homelessness and domestic violence as a reason for being chosen as a peer.
Dr Sophy Antrobus has been an ambassador for ALABARÉ for the last five years, which is a voluntary role, promoting and raising awareness of our work.
Andrew Lord, Chief Executive of ALABARÉ, said:
“I am so pleased for Sophy as she’s been appointed as a Labour peer in the House of Lords. It’s a hugely prestigious role, and I know it’s one she’ll relish and enjoy in equal measure.
“It’s also a fantastic opportunity for ALABARÉ to become more well-known at Westminster, as Sophy spreads the word about our mission to break the cycle of homelessness at the very heart of Government. We’re very proud to have her as an ambassador and delighted to see her being recognised in this way. We wish her the best of luck in the new role from the New Year.”
