Office for Veterans Affairs visits Alabaré homes and services

Office for veterans affairs visits Wiltshire homes

This week, we welcomed Director of the Office for Veterans Affairs, Anisha Worbs, to visit our homes and services for ex-Armed Forces personnel in Wiltshire.

Anisha and her team met with residents and staff at our Alabaré Homes for Veterans, where she learned first-hand about the difference our supported accommodation makes for veterans facing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.

Anisha also travelled to our Veterans’ Self-Build Scheme at Drummond Park in Ludgershall. Through this programme, we support three veterans per year, providing them with construction industry skills and offering them the opportunity to live in homes they have helped build. This initiative is possible due to our partnership with Lovell and Stonewater and aims to strengthen veterans’ self-esteem, self-worth, and purpose. Anisha’s visit sparked insightful discussions around evolving approaches to veteran housing, employment, and wraparound support services.

Alabaré’s housing and support projects are made possible through funding from the Office for Veterans Affairs, including the Veterans’ Capital Housing Fund and the Reducing Veteran Homelessness Programme, which also includes Op FORTITUDE. This support is crucial to our mission, enabling us to provide veterans with safe housing and the resources they need to build stable, independent lives.
“It was a terrific day meeting and hearing from the residents and those undertaking construction training who are supported by Alabaré.”
