Sponsor a Room with a view

The perfect view can change your outlook. For someone facing homelessness, it can change their life.

Every morning begins with a view…

For some, it’s sunlight through familiar curtains.
For many, it’s the ceiling of a familiar room that’s theirs.

But for too many people we meet, their morning view is far less comforting. It’s…
An unfamiliar sofa.
A damp tent.
A cold doorway they never chose.

We’re encouraging people to sponsor a Room With a View – and we invite you to be part of it.

Sponsor a Room → Give someone a safe place → Give them a view worth waking up to.

Your support doesn’t just provide shelter.
It provides dignity, warmth and possibility.

What does the perfect room with a view look like?

A soft bed, a warm welcome, a moment to breathe, perhaps a horizon full of possibilities.

But for someone sleeping rough tonight, even a window can be a luxury. While their “view” may be the sunrise over a park or stars above a pavement, there are no walls for safety, there is no warmth to protect them and no door to lock out the fear.

Tonight, too many people will hunker down in unfamiliar temporary spaces, knowing that their view is cold, exposed, and unsafe.

But it doesn’t have to stay that way. By becoming a Room With A View sponsor, you can help someone move into a place of safety to recover, so they can rebuild their life and their future with a view of something better ahead.

What people say when we ask about rough sleeping

They often mention the weather — but that’s rarely what they remember most.

It’s the noise of passersby.
It’s the fear.

It’s rats scribbling about at three in the morning.
It’s the constant half‑sleep, half‑listening out for danger.

Because when you’re homeless, you never truly rest.
You survive.

Most people think a room is just four walls and a bed.
But when you’re homeless, it’s so much more. It’s…

An undisturbed night.
The security of a lockable door.
Clean, warm bedding that’s not damp.
A moment where your body finally stops bracing.
Space to think about tomorrow — not just tonight.

LIFE-CHANGING SPONSORSHIP

For £21 a month (the price of a takeaway pizza), you can provide a home, restore a heart and empower a mind – helping Alabaré to break the cycle of homelessness.

Every room you help fund directly supports people experiencing homelessness in our community. We believe everyone deserves a view of somewhere more than a bench, more than just surviving.

By sponsoring a room with a view, you will be joining our growing community and supporting a veteran, homeless adult, young person, or young parent and their baby in our service.

ROOM SPONSORSHIP ENABLES US TO:

  • Provide much-needed emergency accommodation and drop-in facilities in Salisbury and Chippenham
  • Provide essentials such as toiletries and bedding
  • Provide activities to improve mental and physical health
  • Support clients to identify and pursue their aspirations through training, education, employment and hobbies
  • Help clients gain the skills to find and stay in a job
  • Teach basic skills like cooking and money management – building independent lives
  • Help clients find move-on independent accommodation.
  • Help them source furniture and support them in this transition.
Alabaré Veterans self-build scheme

There is not one of us here at the moment who isn’t just three paydays away from being homeless, and if we all realised that fragility, people might well be more inclined to help!

Frequently Asked Questions

Bryn was at his lowest point.

An RAF veteran of 14 years, Bryn found himself homeless after a relationship breakdown.

At first, he sofa-surfed, after which his savings went quickly on hotel accommodation, leaving him sleeping rough under a bridge in the middle of winter.
