Walk 40 miles for Lent

Anyone can join in, whatever your age. You can walk alone or join others from your church or community, and you can even take the dog!

As we think about ways to prepare for Easter’s joys, we encourage everyone to get involved with our Walk 40 Miles for Lent.
Participants commit to walking either a mile a day or perhaps over several days and either pay in a donation themselves each day or seek sponsorship.

When? During Lent starting on Ash Wednesday 14th February and ending on Saturday 30th March

Where? You can choose your own route and vary it each day or keep it the same

Why? To spend time reflecting on the lives of those who are homeless whilst spending time each day in the fresh air while raising vital funds for Alabaré’s work.

How? As this is self-guided, there is no need to book a place, although if you register, we will send you some helpful links. Alternatively, if you wish, you may choose to purchase an Alabaré fundraising t-shirt, which you can wear whilst walking and when you have finished if you would like to send us any sponsorship money, please do so here.

Alabaré was founded by a worshipping community in Salisbury 32 years ago to support someone who was homeless and now every single night of the year Alabaré can provide homes for over 320 people across the South West of England and across Wales. Our teams work within our core values of care, compassion, generosity and respect, established from our vision ‘I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.’

We can’t do any of this without the incredible support we receive from individuals, local communities, churches and schools.

Our history

Alabaré was founded out of the simple act of providing a place of shelter and safety to help one homeless man, Bob. Today, it remains our goal to help people who are vulnerable build bright futures, homes and minds for themselves.
