Alabaré Veterans Commemorate VE 80th Anniversary during ‘Mission to Malta’
In remembrance of the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day, 10 UK veterans who have been supported by Alabaré, and four veteran staff and volunteers, honoured those who gave their lives for the freedom of Europe by visiting the Ta Capuccini Naval Cemetery where the group laid a wreath at the Cross of Sacrifice.

The service took place at Fort Delimara and was a key part of the squad’s itinerary on their ‘Mission to Malta’.
Heritage Malta’s Chief Executive Officer, Noel Zammit, and its Chief Operations Officer, Kenneth Gambin, visited Fort Delimara to meet the volunteers and see the ongoing works. The British High Commissioner to Malta, Her Excellency Cathy Ward, and the Minister for National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government, Dr Owen Bonnici MP, were also present at the commemorations.

Providing Hope
With services at one in three supported housing providers in England closing last year due to funding cuts and rising costs, vulnerable individuals like these veterans have fewer places to turn. Initiatives like Alabaré’s ‘Mission to Malta’ are giving homeless veterans hope of a transformed life.
Supporters can inspire future programmes in a variety of ways – by donating, fundraising and volunteering their time.
