Alabaré response to the Government Spending Review

Renters' Rights Bill affordable housing

The Government’s Spending Review for 2025 has brought a pleasing £39 billion boost in affordable housing support across the country in the next decade.

We’ve been assessing the impact that yesterday’s announcements (11th June 2025) could have on Alabaré and the charitable sector as a whole.

The Chancellor, Rachel Reeves, has been outlining the government’s financial priorities for the next five years, which are likely to be hugely significant for our cause.

While the full implications for the charity sector are still emerging, the proposed long-term investment by the chancellor in healthcare and housing signals meaningful progress.

There are, however, concerns that details on how the Government intends to address the growing need for better mental health support weren’t included.

We will continue to monitor the details as they become available and assess how it may impact our funding, partnerships, and service delivery.
