Jamie's Story

“I was 19 when my Mum’s boyfriend moved into our house with his kids. There were lots of fights and arguments. Mum couldn’t handle the situation and said I was old enough to sort myself out; she wanted her new life. That was it, I was out.”

“My friends tried to help, but they quickly got fed up with me sleeping on the sofa. I thought I was going to have to sleep on the streets and I was terrified. I managed to speak to someone from the Council and they found me a place with Alabaré.”

“When I first arrived at Alabaré I felt really alone, but the team there were really friendly and I quickly felt at home. I felt safe and it was good to know that someone cared.”

“6 months have passed and my life has changed a lot! The Alabaré team helped me find a place on a training programme which really helped my confidence. Since then, I’ve done work experience and have just got an apprenticeship as a mechanic. It’s amazing how much things have changed for me since I first came to Alabaré.”
